A Snapshot of The 3-6 Montessori Classroom

The Montessori classroom is special place for young children to begin their educational journey. Children enjoy a 3 hour uninterrupted work cycle each morning and have access to a wide-ranging curriculum that includes the basics like language and math, along with sensorial, geography, history & culture, practical life, art, and science. Montessori education stands apart from more traditional preschool & kindergarten programs because the child's interests and sensitive periods for learning new skills are respected and followed. Each child sets their own pace, makes their own discoveries, and builds upon their skills with the support of their Montessori trained teacher, who is a keen observer of the children. New lessons are presented when a child is ready to take that next step or a work is shown again for a child who is still mastering the skill. In a world that seems to get faster by the day, isn't it refreshing to think there are still places where children can take their time, not be rushed, and experience joy in the process of learning? Please take a moment to read the linked article, A Snapshot of the Children's House Curriculum, from Guidepost Montessori to learn more about the curriculum of a 3-6 Montessori classroom.
