A Typical Day Schedule:

 

Although each classroom may vary from this schedule, we hope it gives you some insight
into how the rhythm of our day goes. We are open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

7:30-8:30
Early Care
8:30
WELCOME!
All Programs begin.
8:30-9:00

Children have the freedom to explore the classroom, choose works and reconnect with friends.  A teacher may also read a story in order to settle the children into their morning routine.

9:00-9:15

Morning Meeting (1st Circle)
Daily singing and sharing of the children’s “news” - ideas, calendar, experiences and treasures. Introduction of new themes of study and lessons are introduced (2 or 3 new “works” are introduced daily).

9:15-11:30

Work Time
Children have the freedom to explore the classroom and choose works of personal interest from various LEARNING CENTERS:

  • Language
  • Math
  • Geography
  • Cultural Studies
  • Science 
  • Art Studio, Art Appreciation
  • Sensorial
  • Practical Life
  • History
  • Library
  • Music
  • Puzzles 
  • Peace Corner (quiet reflection)

Creative Playroom Rotation
Children visit the Creative Playroom from time to time during their morning program time. Dramatic play inspired Theme Corner rotations:  housekeeping, pet vet., post office, camping, restaurant, space center, etc.

Nutritious Snack Time
Parents can sign up to participate in snack preparation and bring in snack.  We are a “nut-safe” school.

11:30-11:45

Creative Circle
Creative movement, French lessons, musical instruments, peace lessons, literacy, sign language, puppet shows, etc.

11:45–12:15

Outdoor Free Play
Our well-equipped fenced area includes:  swings, climbing gym with 4 slides, large play fort, teeter-totter and children’s garden.  Our Nature Courtyard has a charming cabin enjoyed in the Fall and Spring.

Morning Program Ends
12:15-1:00

Lunch Time
Children bring their own lunch boxes.

1:00-2:00

Rest Time
Relax and recharge.  Books, tapes, drawing, and stories are enjoyed by those who do not sleep.  (Jr./Sr. K enjoys reading time from 1:00 – 1:30 prior to enrichment time.)

2:00-3:00

Enrichment Afternoon
Smaller groups gather for enriched cultural and science activity time, creative seasonal projects, classic children’s games, or extended work time.

3:00–3:30
        

Outdoor Free Play

Extended Day Programs End
3:30-5:30

Late Care
Art, cooking, movement, science projects, etc. in our Creative Playroom. (Parents can decide between 3:30 - 4:30 or 3:30 - 5:30 times.)
